O Brod of mine on the Sava cold,
My native and dearest town.
The image of thee has just be born,
When I ceased to live there down.
But always gladly do I to thee come,
To live there many a happy hour,
Let the good fortune be abundantly done,
And the shine of glory your only power.
And you should embrace me as your son,
Opening your bosom in fatherly way
Your voice whispering from heavenly heights:
"Fair and honest Croat you should stay!"
This sweet voice always touch my heart,
Waking old remberance on thee.
And song of mine shall never find a rest,
Until all Croats are united in brotherly love.
Hugo Badalic, 1896.
