GOSPODARSTVO

Even in the Middle Ages on the territory of Slavonski Brod manufacture, commerce, and trade began to grow, and later on, Slavonski Brod developed into an industrial center. With the development of the steamboat and railway traffic (from the mid 19th century) and development of factories in a beginning of 20th century, industry is being developed, trade, and shopping and Slavonski Brod is having its "golden time".

After the Second World War, after 1945, economy is being developed in 3 directions: metal manufacture, whose main key was the big factory Đuro Đaković, wood manufacture, whose main key was Slavonija DI and later on Oriolik, and agriculture and agronomy through agrokombinat Jasinje. In those years there were no small businesses, and trade was brought to a minimum.

In the Homeland war (1991/92) the economy was heavily damaged and its going through the phase of reconstruction and privatization while slowly recovering from the crises before the was started and from the war damages, and middle and small businesses, that are blooming from 1990 until today, are becoming the main support for the economy well-being.
